Our Office and Philosophy

We recognize that each patient is an individual and has unique goals. There is no cookbook formula that works for all patients, especially those with neurological conditions and those who suffer from chronic pain. For example, approximately 50% of the chronic pain patients referred to Dr. Anderson end up having a reduction in their overall medication use, while still showing improvement in their condition. Of course, some patients have an increase in medication use.

In most cases, there is an excellent physician-patient relationship, built from mutual trust. In a few cases, our philosophies may differ enough that we may not work well together. Because we all recognize that we each have different philosophies, Dr. Anderson is pleased to provide information about other practitioners and centers should a patient wish to explore alternatives.

Dr. Anderson is board certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and board certified in pain management by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in association with the American Board of Anesthesiology. Dr. Anderson came to San Francisco in 1993. After internship and residency training (University of California, Davis, East Bay), Dr. Anderson was employed by a medical group.

In 2000, Dr. Anderson was invited to serve a five-year term as the Director of Pain Management for St. Mary's Medical Center and also at St. Mary's Spine Center. During this time, Dr. Anderson gained additional experience in treating pain related to musculoskeletal conditions and spine disorders.

In 2005, Dr. Anderson was invited to join the Neuroscience Institute at California Pacific Medical Center. In preparation for the new office building (which hopefully will open by 2011), Dr. Anderson moved his practice to the future site of the Neuroscience Institute, the Davies Campus of CPMC.

In 2007, Dr. Anderson hired a wholly new office staff with a focus on patient satisfaction.

Peter Camacho: Peter is the practice administrator. Peter joined this practice in 2007 as office manager. He brings his expertise and experience as a pharmacy technician to our office and to our patients. Additionally, he brings his expertise as a former customer service representative for a major corporation. In addition to being a practice administrator during the day, he is a well regarded club DJ by night.

Medical Billing Personnel: We use an outside billing service. If you have any concerns about billing issues, however, feel free to contact us and we can submit this information on your behalf to the billing company. If you would like to contact our billing department directly, please let us know.

Medical Records Personnel: In compliance with a national directive, we use electronic medical records. Our electronic medical record (EMR) provider is Allscripts through the Brown and Toland Medical Group. Instead of in-office staff filing charts, we have off-site staff working to keep your medical information accurate and safe. It is also for this reason that the physical office may be closed when there are no patient appointments even when the business itself is open.
