We accept many common insurance plans. Since insurance plans and contracts change on a frequent basis, please contact the office if there are any questions. Any insurance company may have several different plans and we may be contracted with or accept one or more of those plans, but not all of the plans.
PPO PLANS: We accept many PPO insurance plans including the most common plans in California, such as Blue Cross, Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Great-West, Aetna, Cigna, Humana and Healthnet. We also accept InterPlan, USA Managed Care, FPN, and National Preferred Provider Network. We may accept other plans; please call. Because insurance plan contracts may change at any time and because any insurance company may have more than one plan, please verify our participation with your specific health plan. Sometimes we are contracted with one plan but not another.
GOVERNMENT PLANS: We accept the common government plans. We accept the standard Medicare plans. We also accept the Blue Cross-administered California Public Employees Retirement Plans, also known as CalPERS. We accept the new San Francisco cooperative health plan, called "Healthy San Francisco." We are sorry. We DO NOT accept Railroad Medicare, Medicaid, Medi-Cal or county-sponsored Medicaid programs such as the Community Health Network, Blue Cross Medi-Cal or Health Plan of San Mateo.
HMO PLANS: We accept two major HMO plans available in the San Francisco area: Brown & Toland Medical Group and Beech Street insurance plans (Beech Street is owned by Concentra.). Please note that with our contract with these HMO plans, we are contractually obligated to NOT accept Hill Physicians or On-Lok. Also, IPA organizations typically require that you see a physician within the local network. Therefore, we are unable to accept out-of-town IPAs such as Marin IPA, Sutter-Solano IPA, Mills-Peninsula Medical Group, etc. Patients are certainly welcome, but the insurance plan typically will NOT pay for visits outside of the specific medical group.
WORKERS COMPENSATION PLANS: We do accept certain Workers' Compensation plans. As you may know, there are specific Medical Provider Networks. We know that we are in many MPN programs, although those MPN programs change frequently. We may accept certain workers compensation plans under special circumstances. As you know, the workers compensation carriers have specific lists of physicians for various injuries; because contracts change frequently, these lists may not be updated or accurate. Please call for additional information. For potential work comp patients, we will be pleased to perform a consultation and provide treatment recommendations. Once the insurance carrier reviews our consultation and recommendations and approves them, we then would be able to initiate a treatment plan. Currently, we are involved with the MPNs for State Fund, Sedgwick managed plans and Republic Indemnity. We also are involved with several other plans, but these may change frequently.
