EMG/NCV diagnostic study:
An EMG/NCV study helps diagnose conditions of the peripheral nerves
and muscles such as carpal tunnel syndrome, pinched nerves in the
spine and peripheral neuropathy. The EMG study uses small needles
(like acupuncture needles) and the NCV study uses small electric
shocks (like the static electricity zap felt when touching a
doorknob).
Botox treatment for neurological and
painful conditions:
Recent studies have demonstrated efficacy for various pain
conditions, headaches and neurological conditions. Botox currently
is FDA approved for only a few uses and therefore the use of Botox
in pain management is off label. There have been recent FDA issues
regarding the safety of Botox. Please note that we have always
taken treatment risks seriously. We already provide a written
consent outlining the known risks of Botox prior to initiating
treatment, even though this is not required currently.
